Over the past few months I have been working with Janice Karlen, a colleague of mine from the LaGuardia Business and Technology Department<\/a>, to arrange for a guest speaker to come in and speak to our students. Janice thought it would be a great idea to collaborate on a joint event since there is a natural synergy between the Business and Technology and the New Media Technology<\/a> students. As a result of Janice’s connections we were lucky enough to secure Ryan Charles<\/a>, the Co-Founder of Consmr.com<\/a> and former head of mobile strategy at Zagat. Ryan was generous enough to come to LaGuardia and speak to our students on the realities of working in New Media.<\/p>\n

Ryan describes Consmr as a social site for Consumer Packaged Goods. He launched the site to help change the way people locate and purchase comsumer products. Consmr has been featured in Ad Age, TechCrunch, Mashable, Forbes, The Next Web, Business Insider, The New York Observer and national television. Partners include Gary Vaynerchuk, Arizona Iced Tea, Pepsi, Chobani, Women’s Health, Men’s Health and Prevention.<\/p>\n
