I would like to say that I am surprised by this ruling, but I am not. This story has been <a title=\"This has happened before.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/politics\/2014\/08\/police-shootings-ferguson-race-data\">played out too many times<\/a>. The recent <a title=\"No Justice, No Police\" href=\"http:\/\/jamesrichardson.net\/jtalk\/2014\/11\/25\/no-justice-no-police\/\">decision in Ferguson<\/a> not to indict Officer Wilson, the <a title=\"The murder of Tamir Rice\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2014\/dec\/03\/officer-who-fatally-shot-tamir-rice-had-been-judged-unfit\">death of 12 year old Tamir Rice<\/a> in Cleveland, the <a title=\"The Murder of Akai Gurley by the police\" href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2014\/11\/22\/akai-gurley-nypd_n_6205492.html\">murder of Akai Gurley in a Brooklyn stairwell<\/a> while coming home with his family is a clear indication that police in the United States are out of control. It is also an indication that large sections of the public does not care about these injustices if it does not impact their own communities.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"The President Calls for Body Cameras\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-30281735\">President Obama has called for police throughout the nation to wear body cameras <\/a>in the hopes of restoring public trust. I am not <!--more-->convinced. They had <a title=\"The second video of the murder of Eric Garner\" href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/vT66U_Ftdng\">two videos of the cops<\/a> in NY choking that man to death and it didn&#8217;t mean a thing. The cameras won&#8217;t make a difference if the cops do not value the community as much as they value protecting their own.
