The talk that took place was on the topic of designing digital media programs within higher education. I gathered a number of my colleagues from some of the digital media programs throughout CUNY to find out how they approach program design and the maintenance of curricula in evolving technical disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>This has been an area that has been on my mind since completing the <a title=\"Periodic Program Review\" href=\"https:\/\/www.academia.edu\/3804314\/Periodic_Program_Review_for_the_LaGuardia_Community_College_New_Media_Technology_degree\">Periodic Program Review<\/a> for the LaGuardia <a title=\"New Media PPR Presentation\" href=\"http:\/\/jamesrichardson.net\/jtalk\/2013\/05\/27\/new-media-ppr-presentation\/\">New Media Technology degree<\/a>, as well <!--more-->as beginning the <a title=\"CUNY SPS \u2013 Communication and Media degree\" href=\"http:\/\/jamesrichardson.net\/jtalk\/2014\/09\/24\/cuny-sps-communication-and-media-degree\/\">redesign of the Communication and Media program<\/a> at the <a title=\"CUNY School of Professional Studies\" href=\"http:\/\/sps.cuny.edu\">CUNY School of Professional Studies<\/a>. This talk was similar to another panel group I organized a few years back in which I was advocating for developing a comprehensive CUNY-wide strategy in building technology based programs. That talk led to the start of a <a title=\"CUNY Pathways &amp; The Council of Digital Media Programs\" href=\"http:\/\/jamesrichardson.net\/jtalk\/2012\/04\/21\/cuny-pathways-the-council-of-digital-media-programs\/\">CUNY Digital Media Council<\/a> and brought together the program directors of most the Digital Media degrees within the university system.
