Book: Terra e Alimento (Land and Food)

Project by Link Design Gráfico for EMBRAPA, The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation of the Ministry of Agriculture. The project included the graphic design of a book and organization of an exposition celebrating the 500 years of agriculture in Brazil.

The book was entitled 'Terra e Alimento' and released in 2000 with versions in Portuguese and English ('Land and Food').

My part in this project was to scan and Photoshop the images used for the book and exposition, layout text in Photoshop, make arrangements for the use of copyright photos and images, create and maintain filing system for the images, organize and set up the exposition area.

CD: Back Cover

This is a project I did for a computer art class I took at LaGuardia. It was done in Photoshop and we were asked to create the back cover of a CD and use the logo we had created in class. The professor was very specific on this assignment. He not only wanted to see our graphic skills, but also the concept by how we related our graphic choices to the style of music we had chosen.

My graphic choices are connected to the kind of music I chose. It is a CD by Antonio Carlos Jobim, a famous Brazilian Bossa Nova compositor and performer. His music always evokes peace in me and I wanted this CD cover to evoke the same feeling.

Web Design

Website: ePortfolio at LaGuardia Community College

Help update and maintain the website.

Website: Gwen Stefani

This is the final project for my Principles of Multimedia and Web Design class. It was developed using Macromedia Dreamweaver and Fireworks. I not only developed the website, but also created the content myself.

Templates: LaGuardia Student ePortfolio Templates

At LaGuardia Community College students use pre made templates to create their own eletronic Portfolios. I have created a number of theses templates using Macromedia Dreamweaver and Fireworks. There are currently 3 of my template designs on the LaGuardia's ePortfolio website (numbers 24, 27 and 28).

These templates have to follow a number of rules on size, titles and color among other things that limits the freedom of the designer.

Cascading Style Sheets

The templates at the LaGuardia's ePortfolio website are used by students who are creating intermediate ePortfolios. The intermediate ePortfolio templates are changed by the students with the Netscape Composer application.

The templates on the site have Cascading Style Sheets attached to them in order to facilitate students work. Because of incompatibility with Netscape Composer some of the templates weren’t working well. So I was assign to fix the CSS on all of the templates on the site.

Video

Video: About Me

This is the midterm project I developed for my Internet Video and DVD Development. The assignment was to create a video about ourselves, between 1 and 3 minutes long that looked professional to later on compose our Professional Portfolios.

I shot the video myself and used Adobe Premiere Elements to edit it.

Video: Brasília

I created this video also in Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 for the final project of the Internet Video and DVD Development class I took at LaGuardia. The length should be between 3 and 10 minutes and this time we were free to choose what we wanted the movie to be about.

I decided to talk about my hometown which was probably not a smart move because I live about 12 hours away from it. I had to do a lot of research on this and used videos that were available over the internet. It took me a lot of time to get the footage and images I wanted, but I am very pleased with the result.

Flash: Video Tutorials for the LaGuardia's ePortfolio Website

Create and maintain all of the Video Tutorials on the LaGuardia's ePortfolio Website.

I had created the video tutoials from the word tutorials we already had online, but had to recreate them from scratch after the update of the whole ePortfolio server at school.

The old ones had narration, while the new ones still don't. The priority was to get them all redone and up on the site and then add in the narration. I have recently finish recreating the tutorials and am now going to start redoing all the narrations.

These Video Tutorials were all created using Macromedia Captivate.

Artwork

Experimenting with Lines

Experimenting the magic of a line in space, of a line growing to the point that it becomes a shape, of lines relating to one another to suggest objects.

Pieces of black construction paper on a white Bristol paper with a black background. Size: 9 x 13 inches.

Created in my Introduction to Design class.

Experimenting with Patterns

The assignment asked to draw 2'' square blocks across and down a white Bristol paper with a minimum of 4 across and 5 down. We were asked to create a shape that would fill a square, repeat this same shape in each square changing the direction of the shapes or lines or its negative and positive space.

White Bristol paper, pencil and black India ink with a black background. Size 14 x 10 inches.

Also created in the Introduction to Design class.

Experimenting with Colors

The assignment asked to cut a 6'' square of Bristol paper and reproduce a part of a painting of our choice that we had seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We were free to experiment with the colors, but not with the shape.

I chose a painting of the french artist Henri Matisse entitled 'Study for the Barnes Mural "Dance".'

White Bristol paper and acrylic paint. Size 6 x 6 inches.

This was also a project for the Introduction to Design class.

Writing Sample

Essay on The Cloisters Museum

I thought it was a good idea to have a writing sample that had a connection with what I do and that is the reason why I chose this paper for this section. Not to mention that I absolutely adored the class for which I wrote it.

In the Art and Society class we would visit museums every week and had to choose 2 to 3 pieces to write a paper. This particular paper is the one I did for the Cloisters.

I hope it is a good sample of my writing skills.
