I was out riding my bike yesterday and rode past a Game Stop store on the night that Halo 3 was set to launch. I was out at about 9pm and was amazed at the number of people that were lined up at this little out of the way store. The line as down the block at 9pm. It was a good 3 hours before the game was set to go on sale and people were damn near around the block. There probably wasn’t a single person on the line under 25. Now I expected the long lines at the large outlets like BestBuy, but not at these little shops. But then again I am not really all that keyed in to the scene since I am not a big Halo fan. In fact I rarely played it on my old Xbox and have yet to get an Xbox 360. That may change soon since my son has been bugging me to get a 360 just because all of his friends are talking about Halo 3.
The graphics, gameplay and storyline for Halo 3 are supposed to be insane. I have held off on buying any of the new gaming systems (PS3, #60, Wii) because none of the systems had any real killer games at this point. However that may be changing. Everything that I am hearing from people that were able to play Halo 3 early is that this game IS the reason to buy an Xbox 360. I may still wait a bit because of the recent “Red Rings of Death” problems that Xbox 360 user have been experiencing. I would be pissed off if my machine crapped out after dropping 400-500 bucks on a new system. Plus, I am really more anxious to play Grand Theft Auto 4 anyway.
Either way, I need to start making more money.
