Since the weather got cold I have been slacking with the exercise regimen. It is hard to bike around when you can’t feel the blood in your body. But with my 20th college reunion right around the corner I knew that I was gonna have to take some aggressive measures if I was gonna hit my old college weight before the event. Now I am not usually big on the whole health club scene. It seems like most people that join those clubs are more interested in looking like they workout as opposed to actually working out. But I like having a decent place to lift weights and sweat. Plus since I don’t want to ruin my knees running, and my wife won’t let me get one of those elliptical machines at home, a health club was a good compromise.
There are a bunch of health clubs in my general area. All of them offering pretty much the same thing in terms amenities. So for me the issue came down to hours of operation and price. As a college professor, and junior faculty in my department, my schedule is all over the place. I can wind up teaching nights or mornings or weekends. And that changes every semester. So I need a clubs the is going to fit my schedule. Also, as a college professor, and junior faculty in my department, I am not a rich man. As a result, whatever club I join has to be affordable.
So after some investigation I found a decent club in the area that is open late and won’t break my bank. I signed up even though the weather is starting to warm up and biking is becoming an option again. I figure I’ll need all the help I can get to lose that last 10lbs.
