My wife continues to give me grief over the only things that I bought for myself at the 2010 NYC Comic Con. Contrary to her assessment, correct name for these items are “collectible action figures” and not “man dolls”. I have been wanting to try my hand at some advanced stop motion movies, so didn’t feel to bad about picking them up. My son and I did a basic lego Star Wars stop action a few years back when he was younger and I wanted to take it a step further. The action figures in the above picture are of vintage Luke Cage (a.k.a. Power Man) and Black Lightning, two of the only Black superheroes from Marvel and DC when I was a little kid. As much as I loved Batman and Spider-man, I really loved and identified with these characters because they looked like me. I got both of these action figures for under 25 bucks. I really wanted the Black Panther and Mister Terrific action figures, another two of my favorites, but homeboy selling them wanted waaaay too much.
