A few months back I built a new custom Windows 7 PC for little over a $1000 bucks. The new machine is a Quad Core i7 Intel system with 16GBs of ram and a 4TBs of internal storage. I switched back to Windows when the thought of purchasing a new similarly configured $5,000 Mac Pro desktop became unthinkable in these harsh economic times. Plus Windows 7 is now a viable alternative While I love macs, much of the software that I use is now cross platform so I only need a mac system for a few Apple specific applications. If I do get a new mac I probably won’t go for the high end Mac Pro like I did in previous years. The Mac Mini my be what is a more likely acquisition for me.
