This past weekend I had the pleasure of taking a workshop on capturing video and audio with HDSLR cameras at Student Filmmakers. The workshop was a two day event led by Patrick Reis, an independent filmmaker and cinematographer. Patrick is a veteran freelance industry professional with a great deal of experience working with the new Canon DSLR cameras. I had been wanting to jump into the DLSR video waters for awhile so I figured that the course at Student Filmmakers would be a good start. Especially since my lovely wife bought me a Canon Rebel T3i for Christmas. The two day HDSLR Video workshop at Student Filmmakers was one of the best professional development classes I have ever attended. As someone who teaches college level students in digital media subjects for a living, I appreciated the instructor’s style. Patrick Reis was amazing. He kept everyone engaged and interested for the entire two days. The material was presented in a way that helped to clarify topics I was previously uncertain about, while also teaching me valuable industry standard techniques. If this is an example of the level of instruction offered by Student Filmmakers, I would definitely recommend any of their workshops to my colleagues and students. I am looking at taking two other workshops at StudentFilmmakers on “Lighting for mood” and “directing for video
