VHS Massacre is a the new documentary that I was privileged to be a part of will be released shortly by Troma Studios. I was interviewed on the topics of how technologies such as BitTorrent and digital formats killed off physical media like VHS and CDs.
We rollin’ and they hatin’!
This is my boy’s first pass at shooting and editing his own skate video. He wants to get sponsored as an amateur skater and he figures that creating a promotional video is a great start. I had already given him a copy of Sony Vegas Movie Studio Suite, the video editing software that I recommend to people starting out. So he took a few of my low profile cameras and captured video of his skating runs around different parts of the city.
It had been a few months since I last saw him skate and it was shocking to see how much better he had become in such a short amount of time. My knees hurt just looking at most of the jumps and tricks he is now rocking. However what really impressed me was how good I the video was for a first timer. His use of wide angle shots and effective movement really added to the overall production value.
Now if he can just keep from breaking his @$$ again I will be happy.

Happy Happy my dear mommy!
It is a yearly habit for me to stop by my moms house on her birthday for junk food. The meal is usually the same, White Castle hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, and birthday cake. I always pay for the dinner the next day but it is still all good. It is a chance for she and I to just chill and reconnect in the place where she raised me. For so many years after my father past away it was just the two of us in that apartment. I sometimes forget that I wasn’t always the easiest child to raise. However she never gave up on me and I never doubted that she would always have my back.
Another year has gone by and I and very fortunate to be able to spend it with my mother. I am not at all religious but I do feel a bit blessed to still have her in my life when many of my friends are not as lucky. She is in great heath and spirits, and continues to be a veritable force of nature in the lives of everyone she encounters. I am fortunate.

We got drones!
The Husban H107 Mini quadrocopter, with built in HD camera, I ordered for Christmas finally arrived yesterday. This was fairly cheap and yet functional mini drone. I was interested in getting one for a few months now. I had decided to bite the bullet and snag one after visiting some of my colleagues in the media program at York College during a recent conference. They have integrated drones technology into various aspects of their new media curriculum, which covers everything from videography to programming. The visit made me think about Continue reading “We got drones!”
Bridging the Gaps in Digital Media
The following video is of a panel discussion I organized for the 13th Annual CUNY IT Conference back in December. The talk that took place was on the topic of designing digital media programs within higher education. I gathered a number of my colleagues from some of the digital media programs throughout CUNY to find out how they approach program design and the maintenance of curricula in evolving technical disciplines.
This has been an area that has been on my mind since completing the Periodic Program Review for the LaGuardia New Media Technology degree, as well Continue reading “Bridging the Gaps in Digital Media”

New York Cine Radio: East Bound and Down and UFC talk
I was fortunate enough to start the year off right with the team over at New York Cine Radio. The gang and I sat down and talked about Danny McBride’s East Bound and Down which Tom binged watched over the weekend. Ken and I sparred a bit over our impressions of James Franco’s and Seth Rogen’s controversial movie, “The Interview”. And finally our conversation took a weird turn as we veered into talking about Joe Rogan and Continue reading “New York Cine Radio: East Bound and Down and UFC talk”
