The Knicks really suck!

I went with Jonas to the Knicks game this afternoon. My cousin has season tickets and gave Jonas the tickets as a Christmas present. I had heard from a number of people that the team was really doing poorly this year but I was unprepared for just how bad. The Knicks really suck.

The final score of the game was 110-82, which sounds better than it was in reality. They were playing against the Charlotte Hornets, a team that is currently 14-24, and were down by nearly 50 points at the end of the third quarter. I haven’t seen someone get their ass whupped that bad since I was a teenager and came in three hours late after my curfew. I told Jonas to go ask the Knicks coach if he wanted us to go and suit up. We couldn’t have been much worse.

NY Cine Video: MMA and other Martial Arts

This is the most recent New York Cine Video podcast. The conversation began with us talking about the classic martial arts comedy “The Foot Fist Way” featuring Danny McBride of “East Bound and Down fame”. Then the gang and I got sidetracked discussing the current state of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

First Workout of 2015

I completed a fairly intense workout to start the year off. I did 7.5 miles on the elliptical and followed it up with 30 minutes of bag work, rope jumping, and stretching/yoga. My only resolutions for the New Year are to just keep moving and to remove as much negativity from my life as possible.

New York Cine Radio: East Bound and Down and UFC talk

1280-eastbound-and-down-season-3

I was fortunate enough to start the year off right with the team over at New York Cine Radio. The gang and I sat down and talked about Danny McBride’s East Bound and Down which Tom binged watched over the weekend. Ken and I sparred a bit over our impressions of James Franco’s and Seth Rogen’s controversial movie, “The Interview”. And finally our conversation took a weird turn as we veered into talking about Joe Rogan and Continue reading “New York Cine Radio: East Bound and Down and UFC talk”

2014 NYC Marathon – Run girl, run!

I have started to lose count, but I think that my wife just ran her 13th or 14th marathon. I am not sure any longer. All I know is that this just one of the many times that I have stood out in the cold November weather cheering her on as she runs the NYC Marathon. The first time I stood in the crowd screaming her names was back in 1996, before we had the children. Since then the kids have joined me on the sidelines holding signs and shouting. Now it seems that watching marathons, and looking for my wife in the crowd of runners, has become a regular part of our routine in recent years. Maybe it is getting a bit routine for my wife as well. She almost ran right past us this year.

Frost Valley 2014

The summers that I spent at Kutsher’s Sports Academy were some of my fondest memories growing up. I wanted my children to have the the same positive experience that I had, so my wife and I arranged for the kids to attend Frost Valley again. Since my wife is one of the camp nurses I feel comfortable that they are all safe and sound. She is able to quietly check on them and make sure they are fine and happy. I dropped them off on Sunday for two weeks of fun while I start working on some projects I have put off for far too long. But the house is now entirely Continue reading “Frost Valley 2014”

Happy Birthday to my friend and instructor, Rhon Mizarchi! Without your particular brand of “therapy” my life would be a great deal darker. I know that I am not alone in saying “thank you for all that you do for us”. I hope you enjoyed your day!

But you will never break his spirit!

Follow up to yesterday’s skateboarding adventure:

I spent the afternoon at the hospital with my son as we waited to get him cast for a fractured wrist. His sister had a similar accident last summer on her skateboard and after that incident I seriously considered banning the activity from the house. The problem is that all of his friends are skate fanatics, much in the same way that me and my boys were into basketball and martial arts at his age.

The fracture was minor and he is fine. However I still feel bad. I know boys will be boys, and Continue reading “But you will never break his spirit!”
