We rollin’ and they hatin’!
This is my boy’s first pass at shooting and editing his own skate video. He wants to get sponsored as an amateur skater and he figures that creating a promotional video is a great start. I had already given him a copy of Sony Vegas Movie Studio Suite, the video editing software that I recommend to people starting out. So he took a few of my low profile cameras and captured video of his skating runs around different parts of the city.
It had been a few months since I last saw him skate and it was shocking to see how much better he had become in such a short amount of time. My knees hurt just looking at most of the jumps and tricks he is now rocking. However what really impressed me was how good I the video was for a first timer. His use of wide angle shots and effective movement really added to the overall production value.
Now if he can just keep from breaking his @$$ again I will be happy.
The Knicks really suck!
I went with Jonas to the Knicks game this afternoon. My cousin has season tickets and gave Jonas the tickets as a Christmas present. I had heard from a number of people that the team was really doing poorly this year but I was unprepared for just how bad. The Knicks really suck.
The final score of the game was 110-82, which sounds better than it was in reality. They were playing against the Charlotte Hornets, a team that is currently 14-24, and were down by nearly 50 points at the end of the third quarter. I haven’t seen someone get their ass whupped that bad since I was a teenager and came in three hours late after my curfew. I told Jonas to go ask the Knicks coach if he wanted us to go and suit up. We couldn’t have been much worse.

Happy Happy my dear mommy!
It is a yearly habit for me to stop by my moms house on her birthday for junk food. The meal is usually the same, White Castle hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, and birthday cake. I always pay for the dinner the next day but it is still all good. It is a chance for she and I to just chill and reconnect in the place where she raised me. For so many years after my father past away it was just the two of us in that apartment. I sometimes forget that I wasn’t always the easiest child to raise. However she never gave up on me and I never doubted that she would always have my back.
Another year has gone by and I and very fortunate to be able to spend it with my mother. I am not at all religious but I do feel a bit blessed to still have her in my life when many of my friends are not as lucky. She is in great heath and spirits, and continues to be a veritable force of nature in the lives of everyone she encounters. I am fortunate.

We got drones!
The Husban H107 Mini quadrocopter, with built in HD camera, I ordered for Christmas finally arrived yesterday. This was fairly cheap and yet functional mini drone. I was interested in getting one for a few months now. I had decided to bite the bullet and snag one after visiting some of my colleagues in the media program at York College during a recent conference. They have integrated drones technology into various aspects of their new media curriculum, which covers everything from videography to programming. The visit made me think about Continue reading “We got drones!”
Bridging the Gaps in Digital Media
The following video is of a panel discussion I organized for the 13th Annual CUNY IT Conference back in December. The talk that took place was on the topic of designing digital media programs within higher education. I gathered a number of my colleagues from some of the digital media programs throughout CUNY to find out how they approach program design and the maintenance of curricula in evolving technical disciplines.
This has been an area that has been on my mind since completing the Periodic Program Review for the LaGuardia New Media Technology degree, as well Continue reading “Bridging the Gaps in Digital Media”
