Facebook look back: Cool or not cool

In recognition of their 10th anniversary, the team over at Facebook added this new feature that enables users to automatically generate a video montage of the most memorable posts, pictures and events that they have shared since joining the popular social network. Considering that the video was probably compiled and edited via a set of programming based algorithms, I have to admit that I was impressed at the end result of my video. However, many of my friends had different takes on the new feature.

One of my friends likened the automated video creation to coming home and finding a stranger going through your photo albums and pulling random pictures out. Another friend called the videos Continue reading “Facebook look back: Cool or not cool”

Happy Thanksgiving

This year Thanksgiving took on a slightly more poignant tone as I realized that it had been far too many years since my closest male cousins and I had been in the same place.  I should say we were more like brothers than cousins. We all grew up within a few blocks from one another, and were all very close in age. But yet over the years various circumstances have prevented us from getting together. Giving thanks

After what has been one of worst couple of months in recent history for me it was good to sit back and reflect on how lucky I am to have certain people in my life. Regardless of life’s up and downs, I know that I am a lucky, lucky man. Plus it was a relatively mellow family gathering. Well as mellow as our family gatherings get.

Old memories

In searching through some old disks I came across this old Quicktime multimedia project that I did when I was back in graduate school. The piece was designed as a letter to my daughter. The purpose of the project was to document all of the feelings resulting from the event of her birth. I thought that it might be cool to record some of my emotions in order to give her some insight on her family history for when she was older. It was on of the first digital stories that I had created and, in many ways, was a precursor to my interest in ePortfolios.

My baby is getting old!

Tita and me

It is hard to believe how fast they grow up. It seems like it was just yesterday when I was changing her diapers and pushing her around in a stroller. Now she is a little lady. I love her with all my heart….. but she still ain’t getting that $2,000 Macbook Air.

Daddy may be wrapped around your little finger but he ain’t crazy.
