My wife talked me into skipping part of the 3rd day of the NY Comic Con in order to do something together as a couple. So I got up at 5:30am to drive two hours to Woodstock, NY to run in a fuggin’ Wine Festival Half Marathon. A WINE FESTIVAL! I hate wine. She is running the half while I am running the 5k. I haven’t trained or run like this in years. Pray that the spirit of Batman watches over
2013 NYC Marathon: Take that Sandy!
I am so proud of my wife for finishing her 11th marathon! So far she has completed marathons in NYC, Boston and Berlin. She had been eager to run NYC again because last year it had to be cancelled because of all of the damage incurred during Hurricane Sandy. It is odd to think back to exactly a year ago when instead of cheering her on, we were sitting in a dark apartment huddling around a transistor radio with friend that flew in from Norway to see her run. It was a miserable few days until the power came back on. Also, I had a fair amount of agita because this was the first major marathon in NYC since the Boston bombing earlier this year. My wife only decided to skip that race only because of a nagging training injury. We were lucky.

Runnin’ for Chowda: Year Two
I just got off of the phone with Ski and was shocked to hear her sound so energetic. She slid up to Beantown this weekend to run in her second Boston Marathon and had just finished when I got her on the cell. I really wanted to see her run but someone had to look after the kids since they were back in school after a week off for Spring Break. It probably was for the best since the weather in Boston was cold and rainy and neither of us want the kids to catch any colds.
