New Media Alumni Profiles – Arin Soukoule

This is another in a series of former student profiles that I am putting together. Arin is an alumnus of the LaGuardia Community College New Media Technology Program and a former student of mine. During the pandemic, they were kind enough to speak with me via Zoom and talk about their experience as a former student of the program to assist current students in finding their way to a post-LaGuardia world.

New Media Alumni Profiles – Will Domingue

Will is an alumnus of the LaGuardia Community College New Media Technology Program and a former student of mine. During the pandemic, he was kind enough to speak with me via Zoom and talk about his experience as a former student of the program to assist current New Media students in finding their way to a post-LaGuardia world.

This is why I teach.

I had just returned from one of the many meetings that I have during the week to find a Facebook instant message from a former student of mine. I hadn’t seen or heard from Juan directly since a few months after he graduated. It was great to hear that he was doing fantastic and that I was able to play a small role in his success. At the end of the day this is essentially why I continue to teach. None of my other responsibilities as a professor even comes close to the satisfaction of helping students find their way in life, both personally and professionally.

The CUNY Excellence in Leadership Awards

Yesterday Kristal Reyes, one of the top students in the Communication and Media program that I lead at the CUNY School of Professional Studies was honored with the CUNY? Vice Chancellor’s Excellence in Leadership Award. Every year for the past 22 years the award has been given to exceptional student leaders through the CUNY system. I was humbled to be a part of a program and a school that has helped to foster a student as impressive as Kristal.
