3rd Annual New Media Conference: Coldfusion Guru confirmed

Coldfusion Guru: Michael DinowitzMichael Dinowitz, head of the NYC Coldfusion Users Group and owner of the House of Fusion (http://www.houseoffusion.com) will be presenting at the LaGuardia 3rd Annual New Media Conference. Outside of Abobe, there are few evangelists as dedicated as Michael to the spread of the Coldfusion language and the strengthening of the community. Michael has co-authored many of the best selling CF web application construction kits and videos. Whether its researching the lowest levels of ColdFusion functionality or presenting to an audience, Michael’s passion for the language is clear to see. Here is a list of some of the sites that Michael has a hand in running:

For those wondering about ColdFusion, it is an application server and software development framework used for the development of computer software in general, and dynamic web sites in particular. In this regard, ColdFusion is a similar product to Microsoft ASP.NET, JSP or PHP. The primary distinguishing feature of ColdFusion is its scripting language, ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML), which compares to JSP, ASP.NET, or PHP and resembles HTML in syntax. The use of the HTML syntax makes Coldfusion an extremely accessible language to learn, especially for new web developers. This is a large part of the reason why I feel it would be an excellent addition to the curriculum at LaGuardia.

Michael has presented at LaGuardia in the past and was a big hit with the students. The only thing better than having him present at the conference would be if I was able to get him to teach a Coldfusion course at LaGuardia in the fall. Both my student and I could benefit from his knowledge and experience. I think I’ll float the idea to him. Maybe we’ll get lucky.
