2012 Christmas Festivities

I finally got the tree set up and decorated. My ornaments are slightly non traditional and were influenced by my obsession with Star Trek. I have had many of these hanging off of my tree since I was much younger. My favorite is the Galileo Shuttlecraft ornament from the Hallmark collection. Norwegians like my wife generally celebrate the holiday the night before. While I am not Norwegian, I do like the tradition. As a result, ever since

the kids were really little, we have started our own tradition of having a annual family Christmas Eve dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, and then letting the kids open up just one present on Christmas Eve. The rest of their presents are opened on Christmas morning. This is primarily for me since I have always loved Christmas mornings.

Christmas is always my favorite time of the year and this season I decided to spoil myself this time around. I snagged a limited edition Thor hammer and a Darth Maul lightsaber. The hammer weighs about a good 10lbs. The head is real metal, and while not solid, it has a fair amount of weight. It feels a little heavier than a decent sized aluminium baseball bat. The dual lightsaber was the something that I have wanted for awhile. I plan to finally shoot my Star Wars fan film before I get too old to play the main character.
