Our final day in Copenhagen was mellow. We got up late and had brunch before checking out of the hotel. Ski wanted to do the whole touristy canal tour thing. We had done it the previous year but she thought the kids would appreciate it a little more since they were older. It wasn’t too expensive so I didn’t care. We had time to kill before heading back to the boat for Oslo anyway.
While I usually try to avoid all the touristy stuff I had to admit that the canal tour was interesting. You get an opportunity to see and hear about the history of the city. Also the architecture of Copenhagen is just so damn beautiful that it offset my typical aversion to tourists attractions. In fact, I looked like one of those Japanese tourists in NY by the way I was snapping away with my camera.
The boat trip back was interesting since there seemed to be more kids on the return cruise. The Scandinavian kids crack me up with the way they dress. It is like this absurdly comical version of hip-hop with colors and styles that are exaggerated to the point of clownism. Now some might wonder how this differs from more traditional hip-hop fashion. All I can say is you just have to see it to get the gist. See what I mean.
It will be good to get back to mom’s house. I have been eating like crap for the entire trip. I swear I don’t know how these people live this long or stay so thin eating this kind of food. It is nothing but fat and starch. I will need to probably hit the gym extra hard when I get back just to work off this trip.
