Podcast Relaunch Planning

With the increasing need for distance education and video conferencing, I decided to work on improving my home setup. I recorded a video test for a new podcast I am going to launch later this month. Lord knows I have the time now.

With that said, I was playing with my Logitech C930e webcam last night and got some fairly decent video. I had to tweek the settings and light the area properly. Here is a frame capture from one of the video tests. It was shot at 1080p and 30fps.

I am also going to test out using one of my DSLRs or GoPro action cameras as a webcam option. Both which have much better optics than any of the standard webcams.

It is shocking just how little progress has been made with webcams in the past several years. This is especially true when you consider how camera technology has been enhanced during the same time.

One area where significant progress has been made is in the area of audio production. I purchased a Rodecaster Pro podcast studio mixer at the end of last summer and it is probably the single best piece of audio equipment I have ever acquired.
