So, I am finally back home after nearly ten weeks overseas in Norway. Needless to say, it has been very rough getting back into the swing of things. I definitely could get use to the European way of living. I find that as I am getting older and more set in my ways, NYC is not as appealing as it was in my youth. Continue reading “Returning home”
No, thank you. Fifteen is my limit on schnitzengruben!
Ski and I have just returned from a three day trip to Berlin. Ski’s brother, Svein, had taken his wife to Berlin earlier in the year and since then he had been raving about how Berlin was the European equivalent of New York. I guess he wanted us to see what the fuss was about so he booked us on a short jaunt to the land of beer and sausages. I didn’t want to mention that to him that Germany wasn’t high on my list of places to visit for various reasons. Continue reading “No, thank you. Fifteen is my limit on schnitzengruben!”
Always buy the Applecare: Round 3
OH YEAH!! They replaced my laptop battery without a fuss. I took my battery to the Apple reseller in downtown Oslo and they swapped it out for no charge. I was worried that being overseas would complicate things with the Applecare. Not so. Man, I love it when things come together.
I am not Tech Support!!!
The saying “when it rains it pours” is unfortunately true. I had been having a really bad week as far as technology goes. My in-law’s computer experienced a hard drive failure, my brother-in-law’s computer needed some upgrades, and Continue reading “I am not Tech Support!!!”
So my wife tries to kill me……
Well not really, but I do think she was trying to scare the crap outta me. The day started when Ski has this “great idea” to go biking to the beach where her family has been going for years. Now keep in mind that this is Norway, THEY DO NOT HAVE BEACHES. THEY Continue reading “So my wife tries to kill me……”
Leaving Copenhagen
Our final day in Copenhagen was mellow. We got up late and had brunch before checking out of the hotel. Ski wanted to do the whole touristy canal tour thing. We had done it the previous year but she thought the kids would appreciate it a little more since they were older. It wasn’t too expensive so I didn’t Continue reading “Leaving Copenhagen”
Copenhagen: Day Two
I slept in late today while Ski and the kids went to an art exhibit on the outskirts of the city. I stayed in bed and just chilled. I purchased the high-speed broadband connection for the hotel service so that I could surf and download comics and music. The connection speed was so bad that I should have bitched and got my money back. Oh well, live and learn. I will pass on the Continue reading “Copenhagen: Day Two”
Copenhagen: Day One
After getting settled in our hotel room the kids dragged us out to go see the city. We walked for awhile around downtown Copenhagen and did some shopping. I was determined not to go crazy shopping since the exchange rate of the dollar was so piss poor at this time. But I had to buy a new shaver because I forgot to switch the voltage adapter Continue reading “Copenhagen: Day One”
Straight outta Oslo!!
I am leaving on a short trip with the family today. Ski and I are taking a four day boat cruise with the kids to Copenhagen. DFDS, the company that sponsors these trips, usually offers decent packages for short getaways. We are going to sail down from Oslo to Copenhagen on the “Pearl of Scandinavia”. We had taken this trip a few times in the past by ourselves but this was only the second time that we had taken the kids. We debated on whether or not to Continue reading “Straight outta Oslo!!”
Birthday Abroad
It is funny that as you get older that you start to look forward to celebrating your birthdays less and less. I must admit that turning 42 was somewhat of a downer. I mean I am glad that I made it to this age, and I hope to get much, much older. It is just that I always associated Continue reading “Birthday Abroad”
